Children are the most appreciative hence nothing brings more joy than the satisfaction gleaned through the eyes of a child. SAP Nigeria experienced the joy that comes from giving on November 28, 2019.
The event was the official launching of the sixteen-seater ICT hub donated to the All Saints Anglican Primary School, Yaba. It saw in attendance several dignitaries and representatives of the Lagos State government. Moved in appreciation for a gift of this magnitude, they expressed their thanks and committed to showing support.
Head of Section Human resources and administration SUBEB Mainland, Mrs Linda Umanah represented the education secretary, Honourable Tajudeen Tijani. She said she was delighted to witness this official launch and it is something that will move other people to give. She further conveyed the appreciation of the education secretary on behalf of the district.
Speaking for SAP, Juliet Omorodion said that the SAP global month of service encourages employees to give of themselves and their time through volunteerism. She says that it will impact the community which they work and live. In explaining the need for sustainability, she says “the partnership with Coderina makes this possible because they will teach the pupils the language of the future, coding. They will learn robotics and also ‘train the trainers’. We will continue to contribute to teaching digital skills to children. We have found a place where the need is great and we are filling this need.”
Ifeoma Adibe-Chukwuka of Ayeci Africa is convinced that the next generation of jobs is ICT-driven and they would be a part of it.
Akiniyi Obaede of Coderina who is partnering with SAP Nigeria to ensure sustainability says, “Coding is the language of tomorrow. We will do more than teach the children coding and robotics – we will enhance their problem-solving skills.”
The event was a success and all in attendance unanimously said that this is a hub that will impact the students greatly. In the words of PTA chairman Godwin Ekanem, “This is not just a development, it is an innovation!”
